Welcome to Opal's Class page 2024-2025! 

We are very excited about our new learning in Year 2. Opal class is taught by Miss Salisbury and supported by Mrs Niculcea and Miss Lynch.  

Our PE days are Tuesday and Thursday. Please come to school in your PE kit, which consists of a red t-shirt, black shorts/black jogging bottoms, black trainers and your red school jumper/cardigan if desired. 

Reading is incredibly important and we are trying hard to develop our reading skills. Please bring your reading books into school each day, these will be changed by your phonics teacher, this may vary depending on your Read, Write, Inc group. We encourage our pupils to read each day, please sign your child's learning record. Some of us will be completing accelerated reader quizzes on our books to develop our understanding of what we have read. On the reverse of the children's you will find your child's TTRS account details and accelerated reader log in if your child is quizzing. 

We have an exciting topic 'How our World has Changed', we will be learning about Transport and Houghton Regis as well as Animals including Humans in Science. We will be looking at Plants and Growing as well as understanding seed dispersal and we will be observing the changes that plants go through during their life cycle. In History, we will be looking at old and modern transport as well as learning about a local transport hero! In Geography, we will be looking at Human and Physical features within our town. Please refer to our curriculum map for Year 2 to see more of our topics. We cannot wait to share our wonderful learning during our oracy endpoint, the date is to be confirmed. 

To add to the excitement of being in Year 2, we will going on an a trip to Houghton Regis Library. Date is to be confirmed.

Tithe Farm Got Talent: Auditions for our annual TFGT will take place at lunchtimes from 16th - 19th June 2025. KS1 children will have the chance to share their talent, with the possibility of making it to the final on 20th June 2025.
