Owls

Summer Term

This half term, we have been working incredibly hard! Although we had been at home for almost a whole half term, we have been resilient in our learning.

Our topic this term is the seaside. We have been exploring this topic in all of our subjects and we have been loving it! We have been designing and making puppets, learning about the United Kingdom and exploring how to use a computer! We have also planted our very own seed, we have been watching our plants grow. We planted carrots, peas, cress and tomatoes. Owls investigated everything plants need to grow and what we need to continue to do everyday in order to keep them growing!

In our Phonics and English learning, we have been trying hard to apply our sounds to our writing. We have been using our sound mats and the resources around us to help us write our words. In English, we all wrote an acrostic poem about the seaside, they were FANTASTIC!

The grown ups in the classroom are so proud of the Owls hard work, I am certain your adults at home are just as proud!

Our Learning!

Welcome to Owls Class page 2020-2021!

This year, your class teacher will be Miss Salisbury and Mrs Bowley will be your learning support assistant. We like to have lots of fun in our classroom whilst we complete our activities. Our day will be a little different to our reception day but we try to make it as fun as possible! We have PE twice a week; Wednesday and Thursday. We will need to come into school in our PE kit on these days. Our PE kits need to have black shorts/joggers, red t-shirt and black pumps.

In Year One we still have our reading books which we will be bringing home every day and need to practice reading at least a couple of pages every night. To help us learn, we need to talk about what we have read and make predictions about what we think will happen and why. We will also be practicing this in class. As we are now doing some trickier work, we will be bringing homework home every week. It will be given out on a Friday and needs to be in by the Thursday of the following week.

The document below is an overview of what year 1 life will be like, this will help you and your grown ups. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to email me. I am looking forward to meeting you all very soon.
