Opal 2023-2024
Welcome to Opal's Class page!
We are very excited about our new learning in Year 2. Opal class is taught by Miss Salisbury and supported by Mrs Evans, Mrs Tilcock and Mrs Niculcea.
Our PE days are Monday and Thursday. Please come to school in your PE kit, which consists of a red t-shirt, black shorts/black jogging bottoms, black trainers and your red school jumper/cardigan if desired.
Reading is incredibly important and we are trying hard to develop our reading skills. Please bring your reading books into school each day, these will be changed by your phonics teacher, this may vary depending on your Read, Write, Inc group. We encourage our pupils to read each day, please sign your child's reading record. Some of us will be completing accelerated reader quizzes on our books to develop our understanding of what we have read.
We have an exciting topic of 'How the World has changed', we will be learning about The Great Fire of London, as well as Animals including Humans in Science and Celebrations in RE. Please refer to our curriculum map for Year 2 to see more of our topics. We cannot wait to share our wonderful learning during our oracy endpoint, the date is to be confirmed.
We have two exciting events happening, Bedfordshire Fire Service will be visiting Year 2 on Thursday 7th March and a trip to the Roald Dahl Museum will be on Friday 21st June 2024. Please use School Grid to pay for our trip to the museum. If you have any questions about this please call or visit the office.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
